ABH Modern Renaissance | First Impressions + Review

by - 10:00

As many of you may have seen, I received the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette for my birthday. I've been testing it out for a few weeks now, so I thought it was about time for me to share my thoughts.

PRICE: £41

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

Housed in a mirrored suede coated compact, the Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette contains fourteen thoughtfully curated shades.
Modern Renaissance Palette provides incredible colour pay off thanks to its intensely pigmented creamy formula. With the selection ranging from cranberry and brown toned hues in a combination of both matte and shimmer finishes the shadows are buildable and blendable for a customised finished look.

PACKAGING:

I think we can all agree that this palette has the most beautiful packaging of all time. The palette itself is suede feel (and I love me some suede), it's in a beautiful, dusty mauve colour with white & gold embossed writing *cries*. Not going to lie, when I got this, I made every single person I interacted with feel how soft this palette is...it's a great stress reliever! The palette comes in a beautiful box in the same colour - I've actually been keeping the palette in its box at all time to avoid it from getting dirty.

As well as it looking amazing, it's also great quality. Very sturdy and well made. The mirror inside is also great quality (it's not some cheap, crappy mirror they've put in for the sake of it).

FIRST IMPRESSIONS:

Upon first impressions, there was no denying the absolutely stunning & perfect shade selection. Photos don't even do this palette any justice, you really have to see it to appreciate the beauty of it. When swatching the shadows on my hands/arms, I noticed that the shadows were very soft to touch & EXTREMELY pigmented. Because of the high-pigment, the shadows do have a decent amount of fallout - which I don't see as a problem, personally, since just using a light touch gives you enough product. They also blend super easily, literally like butter.

From first impressions, I'm in love!

(Top Row: Tempera, Golden Ochre, Vermeer, Buon Fresco, Antique Bronze, Love Letter, Cyprus Umber)
(Bottom Row: Raw Sienna, Burnt Orange, Primavera, Red Ochre, Venetian Red, Warm Taupe, Realgar)

OVERALL THOUGHTS:

I've been using this palette now for a few weeks and I can honestly say, I haven't used another palette since. Every shade is stunning and the quality is undeniable. I find it to be the perfect palette for simple, everyday looks as well as more adventurous or glam looks.

My favourite shades in the palette are Buon Fresco, Love Letter, Burnt Orange & Realgar (but tbh I adore every shade). I think this palette is 110% worth the money (& the hype!) and I'll definitely be looking to try out more ABH shadows in the future!

If you're thinking about getting this palette, but perhaps you're a bit hesitant because of the price point, I say go for it! It has very quickly become my favourite palette in my collection and, trust me, you get every pennies worth out of it.
