The Liebster Award | 2017

by - 17:00

Last Wednesday I received a massive shock, I got nominated by A Day In The Life Of Loz for this year's Liebster Award! On a day where I was feeling extremely low and not myself at all, I was instantly brought to tears of joy. So thank you so much to Lauren for nominating me! Then on Thursday, I was nominated again by The Auburn Agenda (feeling extremely appreciated right now), thank you!

If you don't know what the Liebster Award is, it's essentially a way to discover new bloggers. Each year there are a new set of rules and challenges but essentially it stays the same. So if you get nominated, here are the rules:

1. You must thank the person that nominated you & link their blog in your post. This way they gain promotion, and those who you nominate will also do the same for you (kind of like a fantastic train where bloggers promote & support each other)

2. Display the award on your blog by posting one of the official images in your post or by adding a widget to your site.

3. Write 10 random facts about yourself so both your loyal readers & new viewers can learn more about you. (optional)

4. Answer the questions that you have been asked by your nominator.

5. Tag 5-11 bloggers that you love and think should get more recognition, let them know that you've tagged them.

6. Make up a set of questions for your nominations to answer in their posts.

-

Of course because I was nominated twice I will be answering both sets of questions...here goes!

Questions from Lauren:

What is the best word to describe yourself and why?

Ahh so many words come to mind! I'm just going to say ambitious. I consider myself as quite an ambitious person, I cling onto dreams like there's no tomorrow. I work really hard everyday to try and become something that I dream to be, and I'm not going to let that dream go anytime soon.

What is the main reason you started blogging?

I started blogging because I love writing, I've been trying to write books ever since childhood! I saw that blogging was becoming a thing, with the rise of Zoella and all, so I thought I would give it a shot.

It's also something for me to do in my spare time, I hate being bored so blogging is the perfect, productive outlet for that.

Costa or Starbucks?

Have to be honest, I think I prefer Costa! I like Starbucks, don't get me wrong, but to me it seems like it's more about image than it is good, quality food (and I love me some good, quality food!). I'll go to Starbucks if I want to feel 'Instagrammable', but 9 times out of 10, I'll choose Costa.

Would you rather – always have to say everything on your mind or never be able to speak again?

I pretty much say everything that's on my mind anyways so, that one! I can't hide anything at all, if I'm thinking something, it'll be coming out of my mouth in 0.3 seconds.

What would your anthem be?

Such a tough question! I think I'm going to go with Escape - Rupert Homles, it's a classic, funny song that everyone loves, but I actually adore the meaning of it. There's always something new to learn about someone!

If you could spend the day with any famous person (dead or alive) who would it be and why?

Ariana Grande, hands down! She is my queen, she is my idol. I absolutely love her to pieces!

What your ideal environment which motivates you to blog?

My favourite place in the entire world is the center of Newcastle, right in the rush of it all. I enjoy getting away to the countryside and all, but I'm a total city girl at heart and I love being in the city center. I would live there if I could.

What’s the most challenging moment in your blogging journey so far?

Two things I've found very challenging...

1. Discovering the type of blogger that I want to be. I was so undecided of what to do, should I go down the typical 'beauty blogger' route? Or should I do something completely different? I kind of went for an in-between vibe. I write about whatever I want. Sometimes it's a simple post about makeup, sometimes it's a little deeper.

2. Not getting caught up on statistics! It's so easy to become obsessed with numbers, the amount of followers you have, how many views you get etc. But at the end of the day it means nothing. I don't blog for views. I don't blog for followers. I blog because I enjoy it. And yes I do track my statistics, but that's just to keep an eye on them. If I lose followers or if a post doesn't get that many views then it's not the end of the world. If I'm enjoying what I'm doing then who cares?!

Your dream car?

I'm not really a car person, but I've always had a little love for minis.

If you could have one super power, what would it be?

Maybe to be invisible or mind-read, just so I can hear what people think/say about me when they think I'm not around.

Questions from Amy:

What’s your favourite fashion brand?

Primark! Haha, simply because I hate spending money on clothes. When it comes to money, I can drop £50 on an eyeshadow palette in seconds, but I feel weird about spending money on a piece of fabric?! I love clothes, but I can never bring myself to spend money on them.

Why did you become a blogger?

Simply because I adore writing, and also because it keeps me busy, which I like.

What’s your favourite book and why?

My favourite book is definitely Perks Of Being A Wallflower, I love everything about it. The way it's written is beautiful, I feel like so many people can relate/understand it so well (even if you haven't been through something like that). If you haven't read it, you really need to!

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?

A few years ago I would of said New York or London, but I'm at a place where I'm really happy where I am. Over the last few years, I've grown this massive love for my city (Newcastle) and I honestly couldn't imagine being anywhere else. Maybe in the future I will live elsewhere, but for now, I'm really happy here.

What’s one thing you could never live without?

Typically I would say my phone, but recently I've thought I'd actually be much happier without it! I'm going to say my cat, he's my baby and I couldn't be without him.

What’s your favourite memory?

Oh tough one, I'm just going to say my entire 18th birthday! My birthday last year and all of the celebrations for it were amazing, I wouldn't change a single thing. (and I'm turning 19 in two weeks which I'm ngl makes me a little sad)

Who’s your biggest role model?

...Ariana Grande! Who saw that coming? Well, Ariana & Will Smith, I couldn't leave him out since he is such a massive inspiration to me.

If you could give one piece of advice to your younger self what would it be and why?

You don't need to be anything other than you! Focus on you and what you want, life after school is completely different. You finally become who you really are, and you finally become happy, so stop working so hard for the attention of those who don't care. Love who you are and be yourself.

If you could live in any fictional world which one would you choose and why?

I feel like I would love to see what it's like living in the Divergent world. I mean I know things are pretty messed up there, but the whole idea of having to choose a faction based on personality traits really interests me. I would like to think that I would choose Candor (honesty) as I value honesty more than anything.

What would you say your best trait is?

I think I'm quite empathetic, so I'm going to say that.

What are you most proud of?

Getting a B in GCSE History! Hahaha (no seriously, that shit was hard). Apart from that, I suppose I'm proud of who I am as a person. I'm happy that I've finally found who I really am and what I want to do. I may be a little different to some people, and a lot of people might not fully understand me, but I don't really care. And sometimes I might bring myself down, telling myself that I'm a failure etc. but when I'm thinking more clearly, I actually like myself. So I guess that's what I'm most proud of.
