Monthly Favourites | March

by - 10:00

April is upon us! (this year is running away from us faster than my future career prospects) And may I just say how thrilled I am that Spring is finally here. But reaching the end of another month also means that it's time to share my favourites from March, there's a little bit of makeup, little bit of body care, and a few miscellaneous things too.

1. Maybelline Fit Me! Matte & Poreless Foundation £5.99

I needed a new foundation and I picked this up on a whim, although I was slightly skeptical as the words 'matte foundation' and 'dry skin' don't typically work well together, I actually ended up loving this foundation. It has a light to medium coverage but is easily buildable, and as for the matte finish, it's a very beautiful and natural matte (not flat and dry). It can cling to a few dry patches but if I use a moisturising primer then that doesn't happen as much. As I've said, it's light to medium so some of my redness and freckles still show through (which I like) but, again, it's buildable if you want more coverage. It also lasts all day on me without needing any touch ups whatsoever! It's a new bae.

2. Makeup Geek Contour Powder Compact £14.25

Again, I needed a new contour powder, unfortunately my Sleek compact just wasn't doing it for me anymore and I wanted something a little cooler. After a lot of searching, I decided to purchase this from BeautyBay. The thing that attracted me to this was first, the packaging, it's so sleek and simple, it's honestly beautiful, secondly the shade range; they have shades suitable for porcelain, fair, medium and deep skin tones, but they also have a warm and a cool shade for each tone which I thought was amazing. I went for the shade 'Break Up' which is for porcelain skin tones with cool undertones. The shade is perfect for my skin tone, it's cool toned but it isn't grey or ashy at all, it still has a natural hint of warmth which I love. It has a decent amount of pigmentation so you're not going to end up with nothing, but you're not going to end up with a muddy face either. The formula is like spreading butter on your face, it blends like a dream (I use the Elf stippling brush if you wondered). This is the first thing I've tried from Makeup Geek and it makes me eager to try more, definitely great quality for the money.

3. Chanel Le Volume De Chanel £25 & W7 Absolute Lashes Mascara £6.95

The Chanel volume mascara has been a love of mine for a while now but pairing it with the W7 Absolute Lashes mascara has changed my life. The Chanel mascara is great for volume (as the name would suggest), it's fantastic at giving my lashes a thick and dramatic look, but sometimes it can look a little too thick. The W7 mascara is perfect for a more natural lash effect, it's amazing at lengthening and separating my lashes. Together, they are a dream. I first go in with the W7 mascara (supposedly a dupe for the Benefit They're Real Mascara) to give my lashes an initial base, lengthening them and creating the shape that I desire. Then I go in with the Chanel mascara, mainly focusing on the base of my lashes to add drama and volume, and I'm left with long, voluminous, fluttery lashes. Voila! (I only wish that I could find one mascara that does it all)

4. Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lipstick in Rich Ruby £6.99

I really wanted to find a classic matte red lipstick and I came across this one day and I fell in love. I have nothing bad to say about this lipstick, the packaging: amazing, the pigmentation: amazing, the lasting power: AMAZING. It's a classic matte red lip that isn't drying and lasts forever. If you want to feel like a beautiful badass then you need it, that's all I'm going to say. You. Need. It.

5. Organic & Botantic Madagascan Cocconut Shea Butter Body Cream £65

I was sent this in a PR package from Organic & Botanic a while ago, along with their Rejuvenating Night Moisturiser. Moisturising my body is one of those things that I find really tedious and I don't really do it as often as I should, but I have adored using this product. It's an extremely thick butter that smells divine. Every time I use it it's as though I'm being pampered, but no doubts it's just a casual Tuesday night. It moisturises the skin like no other body cream I've used, I swear the moisture can last for days (which for someone as lazy as I am, is great). Plus the scent lingers meaning you smell like a tropical coconut, and who doesn't want to smell like a tropical coconut?? It's quite pricey but for 100ml of spa like greatness, I think it's worth it.

6. RuPaul's Drag Race

I'm so late onto this bandwagon (but I always am). After The Vampire Diaries sadly ended *cries*, I needed something new to watch, and since I've heard people talk about this for years, I decided to give it a shot and, well....I LOVE IT! It's like next top model but for drag queens! I never really knew much about the drag world but I've always found it interesting, and each episode I watch I learn something new. It's intense, it's bitchy, it's hilarious, it's everything I need and more. And I've also fallen in love with RuPaul, what a fucking queen.

7. Riverdale

Again, I feel like I was late to watching this, but only because I thought this programme was going to be an overhyped, cheesy show that wasn't worth watching but fuck me was I wrong. One day I decided to give it a go and watch one episode, and then I watched another episode after that because I was so intrigued. I think at times it's very comparable to Pretty Little Liars in the sense that it's a teen show based around a 'who did it?' Kind of situation. It has drama, romance and a little bit of cheese every now and then. I am HOOKED. The only thing I don't like about this show is that it's made me have a thing for Cole Sprouse, and I never imagined myself having a thing for Cole Sprouse.

So those were my favourites for March, I know that there wasn't many but I've genuinely fallen in love with these things and I really wanted to discuss them. Let me know in the comments below what your favourites have been.
