Jeffree Star X MannyMUA Collaboration | Review

by - 10:00

It's been an exciting time for makeup-lovers recently as the Jeffree Star X MannyMUA collaboration dropped, and after 36 minutes of waiting around on BeautyBay and experiencing multiple breakdowns, I managed to get my hands on it! So this weeks post is going to be a little first impressions review of the collaboration, enjoy!

So the collection is complete with a Skin Frost in the shade 'Eclipse' and two Velour Liquid Lipsticks in the shades 'Daddy' and 'I'm Shook'. First of all, can we talk about the fREAKING PACKAGING?! It's honestly beautiful, it's definitely photogenic, but it's even more gorgeous in real life! All of the products come in black boxes with holographic print, the logo has both Jeffree's star logo as well as MannyMUA's crescent moon. The Skin Frost is the exact same as the regular Skin Frosts but it is a stunning matte black with silver holographic writing (I die), again, the lipsticks are also the same as the regular but black instead of pink with silver holographic writing & logos. Honestly, the packaging is so stunning that I couldn't bare the thought of it being hidden in my makeup drawers, so I have it out on full display for everyone to see!

 SKIN FROST - ECLIPSE £25.50/$29

The shade 'Eclipse' is a beautiful peachy, champagne colour which I believe would suit a wide variety of skin tones. On medium to deeper tones it may look a little more peach, but on paler skin tones it may look a little more icy (which is how it looks on me). I would say that it's a very similar shade to BECCA 'Champagne pop', but a little more icy.

I only own one other Jeffree Star Skin Frost in the shade 'Lavender Snow', and, as far as I can tell, it's the same formula. It's very creamy and buttery, this does mean that it's not the best for finger swatching as it tends to clump up a little, but it's amazing once applied with a brush. If you're a natural glow kinda gal then I wouldn't recommend this for you because DAMN! The glow is real. You only need a small amount to get a good glow out of it, although it is buildable if you crave more (a Jeffree Star highlighter is kind of like Pringles, once you pop, you can't stop).

The formula of the lipsticks are exactly the same as the regular ones, AMAZING! I have three other Jeffree Star lipsticks (Androgyny, Pumpkin Spice & Crocodile Tears) and they are without a doubt my favourite liquid lipstick formula. They're a very thin, but they're more of a mousse formula than a liquid formula. Since they are so thin, they feel incredibly comfortable on the lips, they don't feel drying at all in comparison to many other matte liquid lipsticks, in fact, a lot of the time I forget I'm even wearing lipstick. If you are a liquid lipstick fanatic, you NEED to try out the Jeffree Star formula, I promise you won't regret it!

Daddy, is probably the most popular lip shade from the collection, and I can see why. It's a mid-tone, cool toned, browny nude shade and it is stunning! It's the perfect 'Instagram Baddie' lipstick and I honestly feel like this would suit a wide variety of skin tones.

I'm Shook, was the shade that I was slightly skeptical about. I loved it as soon as I saw it and I thought it was a beautiful shade, but I was slightly scared that it wasn't going to suit me, but boy was I wrong! When first swatched, it comes out as a beautiful, bright coral shade, but as it dries it continues to get darker and turns into, as described, a burnt coral/reddish shade (I die, again). I can tell that this will be my go-to summer shade!

Overall, I am absolutely in love with this collaboration. Everything from the packaging, to the shade selection, to the quality, IM IN LOVE. I haven't been this excited about a makeup launch since the Kylie Jenner birthday collection, and that was back in August! If you can get your hands on the collection, I highly suggest that you do.
