Skincare Routine

by - 10:00

Throughout recent years I've come to struggle with my skin quite a lot, therefore skincare for me has become quite important. I always think to myself "if you're going to spend money on something to make you look better and give you confidence, spend it on skincare".

Now while my skin isn't perfect by far, recently I have grown to like my skin a little more, so I thought I would talk you through my current skincare routine!

A little bit about my skin: I have quite normal skin in general, I can get very dehydrated around my forehead especially, and my skin is also very sensitive. My main problems with my skin are pores/blackheads, redness and 'stress acne' on my chin.

#1 Cleanse

To cleanse my skin morning & night, I have been using the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser. I feel like this cleanser has cleared up my skin so much, my blemishes have rapidly reduced and it makes me so happy to see a change like this within my skin. I love that it's so quick to use yet it cleans so deep and it really makes you feel...well, clean.

I will say that my skin does have a slight reaction from this (probably caused by my sensitivity), sometimes after using it I get some slight red blotches on my skin so if you have extremely sensitive skin, this might be something to think about. I also don't use the muslin cloths that comes with it because I've found them to be too harsh on my skin, so I just use a normal cloth/towel.

Although I love the packaging, it does annoy me slightly because you never know how much product you have left, and considering it costs £15, it would be nice to be able to know when I have to repurchase another.

Apart from that, it is an amazing product and I love it.

#2 Tone

I'm just going to come out and say it, I LOVE this product! I've wanted to try it for years, but the price tag has always held me back (also the fact that I've never been much of a toning kind of girl). But once I bought it and started using it, I fell in love. To tone, I use the Pixi Glow Tonic, I use this in the morning after cleansing on a cotton pad.

What I love about this product is that it gently exfoliates your skin so you don't have to go in with a harsh scrub more than once a week. After I started using this, my skin is always soft and glowy.

#3 Moisturise

To moisturise my skin in the morning after toning, I have been using the Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Skin Defence Daily Moisturiser, and in the evening I have been using the Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Sleep & Reveal Night Cream.

Both of these products are a part of the Vitamin C+ range which is meant to brighten your skin and make you look more radiant. I feel like they definitely do that, especially if paired with the Pixi Glow Tonic.

They both  make my skin feel so soft and moisturised without feeling greasy or oily at all. In the winter though, I do feel as though I'll have to switch to a more heavy duty moisturiser, but for now they are doing the job.

They also smell like oranges, which is a massive plus.

#4 Exfoliate

I only exfoliate my skin once, maybe twice, a week, but when I do, I use the St. Ives Apricot Scrub Gentle for Dry/Sensitive Skin. I've used this scrub for a very long time and I love it. It's very gentle on my skin while also being rough enough to remove any of the dead cells, which is great.

I've also used the blemish fighting one in the past and I did love it also, but I found that it was just too harsh on my skin, this one is a lot better for me and at £4.19 you can't really go wrong.

#5 Mask

The newest addition to my skincare routine, the new L'Oreal Paris Pure Clay Detox Mask. When I first saw that L'Oreal were releasing these masks I was soooo excited, I just needed to try one. I have the detox one, but they also have a purity mask and a glow mask within the same range.

I use this mask once a week and depending on how my skin is, I either put it all over my entire face, or just in the main problem areas (my nose and chin). I've been looking for the perfect clay detox mask for the longest time, and I think I've found it.

This mask brings out everything bad within my skin, every time I use this I have a feel good skin day. And it also isn't too tough on my skin which is amazing. It can be a little bit sticky/tacky so make sure that your hair is properly tied back and out of the way before you start applying this, but the job that it does is incredible.

The only real downside to this is that I wish there was more in the jar!

And that is my current skincare routine at the moment! Thank you so much for reading, let me know in the comments below what your staple skincare products are and why.
