A Night At Jamie's... | Jamie's Italian Newcastle Review

by - 10:00

This week, I was invited along to Jamie's Italian, Newcastle to try out their Evening Favourites Menu. Here is a little rundown of my evening, and a review of the menu...

As I first step foot into the building I was struck with the feeling of an amazing atmosphere, although the design of the restaurant is very rustic, I couldn't help but get a very warm and friendly feeling from the place. I'll first off say that I absolutely fell in love with the decor, everything was so rustic & open...and dare I say it, tumblr!

I was greeted very kindly and warmly by the woman at the front desk, who then directed me up the stairs where my guest and I would be seated. We were seated in a fantastic place, there weren't too many people around us (which was great for my social anxiety), and we had a great view of Grey's Monument & Grey's street out of the window (I've always loved the architecture in Newcastle, it's one of the main reasons why I love living here).

(all of these photos were taken at the end of the night, hence the lack of people)

THE MENU

So we were invited to try out the Evening Favourites Menu, this menu entails 3 courses for only £18.95 per person (which is incredible). This menu is available from 6pm onward Monday-Thursday. All of the options on the menu were amazing (even though I didn't really understand what most of it meant because it was all written in 'fancy food language'), there was definitely something for everyone, and we probably took about 20 minutes or more deciding what to get. IT ALL SOUNDED SO DELICIOUS!

(my date for the evening)

STARTER

For my starter, I ordered the Truffle Tagliatelle, which was tagliatelle pasta with black truffle butter, nutmeg and Parmesan. I have to be honest, I had no idea what truffle butter was when I ordered it (apart from that Nicki Minaj song) and I still have no idea what it is, but I loved it! It's unlike anything I've ever tasted before, I genuinely cannot describe it, but damn it was good. I will say that because it was butter, it did feel slightly oily, but really the only thing that suffered there was my liquid lipstick!

MAIN

For my main, I ordered the Spicy Sausage Casarecce, which was casarecce pasta with a pork and sausage ragu with herby breadcrumbs and shaved Parmesan. It was so delicious! It was absolutely packed full of flavour. Once I started eating it I was so happy with my choice. The only downside to this meal was that there was too much of it (for me anyways). I've never been one to eat a large amount in one meal, and this course definitely wasn't designed for smaller stomachs in mind. So despite it tasting so amazing, I was only able to eat about a quarter of the plate, if that!

DESSERT

I feel as though dessert is universally known as the best course, it's definitely my favourite course since I have such a huge sweet tooth. All of the dessert options looked mouthwatering, but this time I went for the Baked White Chocolate Cheesecake. Now, cheesecake is my favourite dessert and because of this, I have tried a fair amount of cheesecakes in my time, this one is definitely up there with the best. I'm not saying that it was the best cheesecake I've ever had, but it's definitely a contender. The cream cheese was so thick and decadent, and you could tell that they had used fresh raspberries. 10/10 would eat again.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE

My overall experience at Jamie's Italian, Newcastle was astounding. This was the first time that I've ever been to Jamie's Italian, and although I've heard some outstanding reviews, I really didn't know what to expect. Everything from the decor to the atmosphere to the food to the staff was remarkable. Put together all of that and the fact that the total bill cost was only £46.50 (including VAT) for 2 people, I'll definitely be going again!
