Kylie Lip Kits | Review

Product Description:
This ultra-long wearing lip liner has a creamy texture that glides across the lips for a very easy and comfortable application. The Lip Liner sharpens easily in most standard sized sharpeners - just make sure your sharpener is not dull!

The Liquid Matte Lipstick has high intensity pigment for an instant bold matte lip. The extremely long wearing lipstick contains moisturizing ingredients for a comfortable, emollient and silky feel that does not dry your lips out.

Personally, I think that the packaging is beautiful! The box that the lip kit comes in is thin and sleek, it definitely gives the entire product a more luxurious feeling and it generally feels great just to hold in your hands. The tube of the liquid lipstick is simple but cute, the liquid drip pattern coming down from the lid is so simple, yet it makes a massive statement and has now become a staple for Kylie Cosmetics. I love that 'Kylie' is written on the tube in her own handwriting, it definitely adds a more personal touch to the product. Again, the lip liner is very simple and sleek, I like that the liner is matte black with silver writing, it gives it a more elegant touch. All of the packaging feels very sturdy and well made, it doesn't feel cheap at all!

First Impressions:
My first impression of the lip liner was that it was very soft and creamy. The liner was very easy to use and gave off a good amount of colour that you could wear it on its own if you were going for a more natural look.

The first thing that I noticed about the liquid lipstick was the dofer applicator was quite small, but fairly thick, this actually made the application of the product ridiculously easy. The dofer applicator was also very fluffy and soft, which made application feel like a glorious dream!

The next thing I noticed was the smell, the smell is extremely strong but I am in LOVE with it. Many have said that the smell reminds them of vanilla or sweets, I personally think the smell is like Baileys Irish Cream (which is a whiskey and cream based liqueur), it took me a while to figure out what the smell reminded me of but then it just hit me. Please tell me I'm not the only one that thinks this...

When I first applied the liquid lipstick, I noticed that the formula was really thin but very opaque, which is amazing! I will say that, because the formula is so thin, sometimes it's very easy for it to drip everywhere so you must be careful, for example, I've managed to get some on my keyboard, my t-shirt and my leg while writing this post!

The product went on very evenly (Kourt K was a little patchier and needed a little more work than Dolce K, but that's to be expected) and dried in about 15 seconds, which I think is the perfect amount of time. Once dried, it looked beautiful! It wasn't sticky at all, the matte finish wasn't drying and it felt sooo lightweight on the lips. As a first impression, I was in love.

Overall Thoughts:
After owning the products for just over two months, I can safely say that they are one of my most treasured members of my makeup collection! The finish is beautiful, they last a really long time on the lips (they only wear away after eating greasy foods), the lip liner is probably one of the best lip liners I've ever used! If you're looking for a really long-wearing, creamy/soft lip liner, they are now sold separately for $14/£10.60 and I would highly recommend. I do wish that the shade range was more varied though, at the moment it features a lot of nude shades and a few bolder colours like Kourt K, I mean nude shades are great and they're all so stunning, but I do wish that there were a wider variety of colours.

The only downfall to the product, is the overall price. Generally I think that the price for the actual lip kit itself is very good, considering you're getting a high quality liquid lipstick and a matching lip liner for $29/£22 is amazing! But add that with the cost of shipping, plus custom charges (if you're ordering internationally), it can add up to be a very expensive product. I ordered 2 lip kits both $29, the shipping total to the UK was $14.95, making the entire order a total of $72.95 which is £55.26. My order came within 11 days of ordering which I wasn't too happy with to be honest, but I've heard of people waiting longer so I can't really complain. Before I was able to receive my order, I was given a customs charge of £18 (ouch), this brought my total to £73.26 for two lip kits! Not going to lie, it still hurts me to this day. Of course customs charges vary quite a lot so you never really know how much they're going to charge you, but let's be honest, no one is ever happy about customs.

Despite the pain of the cost, I will be ordering some again. I do think they are amazing products and Dolce K has sneaked its way into my everyday makeup bag. But I will say that if you're planning on ordering some for yourself, just keep in mind the additional costs that may come your way, it can be very painful.
