Pressure, Pressure, Pressure

Everybody feels pressure. You feel it, I feel it, everyone around us feels it. It makes you feel as though you aren't good enough, like no matter what you do, you'll never achieve anything great. It makes you lose control over the things you once thought you had dominance over. You can even feel pressure when you have no reason to feel it.

We are our own biggest critics and so naturally we insist on dumbing ourselves down, making us feel unworthy of any wish or dream we ever have. It's insane the amount of pressure you can put on yourself without even realising it, it's enough to drive us to the brink of insanity. We thrive to achieve perfection when, in reality, it's unknown that perfection actually exists. There's always going to be something that can be improved, there's always going to be better words to use on that 3000 word essay you wrote or, there's always going to be a cleaner line on that winged eyeliner you just did and there's always going to be a better time that you could finish that race in, but what fails to strike most people is that, it could be way worse.

Everything you do that isn't so called 'perfect' could be done way worse than how it currently is. There's always going to someone out there who can excel at something you want to do better at and sometimes you just have to deal with it, but similarly, there's always going to be someone who is worse at the thing you want to do better at, and I don't know about you but that always makes me feel better about myself. Take me for example, I am terrible at many things, science is included in this. I'm not the best scientist and I often find myself confused when it comes to ion tests and charged particles, but I know that there's someone out there who is worse at science than me. I also know that science isn't my passion. I'm never going to be a scientist and I'm perfectly fine with that.

Sometimes we just have to admit defeat and realise that it just isn't our game. But if you enjoy something and you really want to get better at something, or you want to pursue something, anything, all you have to do is try your best. Yes, there will be a lot of pressure on you and yes, sometimes you will feel the burn but in the end I'm sure it'll all be worth it. You have to separate yourself from pressure and passion, forget about the pressure of everything being perfect and submit to your passion. If you really like something and have a real passion for it, then do it. No matter what pressure you're being put under.

Pressure is a terrible thing and we all have to face it at some point but my advice is to just, deal with it. In the end you'll come out fighting and ready for your next adventure and if you do find that it all becomes too much, take a break. Forget about it. Get a night away from it if you can and return to it in the morning. Maybe you could talk to someone and they can help to take the load off, afterall a problem shared is a problem halved. All I'm saying is that if you're under a lot of pressure and you feel alone, you're not. There's probably people in your life who are also going under pressure without you knowing. Nothing you do can be perfect, no matter how hard you try so you may as well forget that image of perfection you have in your mind. Just work hard and if you do find yourself stuck in a rut with, what seems like, no way out, just take a moment to yourself and breathe through it then return to it once you're ready. Pressure is only as painful as you make it, if you let it get to you, it will sting and it will hurt but if you don't let it get to you, you'll be fine and you'll probably end up with better results than what you first thought you could even achieve.

Thank you so much for reading, I hope this helped with anything you're going through. I've definitely had my fair share with pressure and can relate. Make sure to check out my other posts and my social media links.
